This picture started from an idea that I would like to draw a Roman helmet. I gathered some reference materials and
started the work. During drawing I realized that it would be nice to "fill" that helmet with a head. So I decided that
this picture would become a helmet and head profile study. The base of the helmet design is from the original Roman style
but I added some details of my own as well. By the way Praetorian guard was an unit of elite soldiers which were assigned to
the bodyguards of the Roman emperors. During time the Praetorian guard acquired a lot of power and there were some cases when
the Praetorians decided who would be the next emperor. They even killed some candidats whom they think were not suitable
(didn't pay them enough bribes). There were never any females in the Praetorian guard but I'd like to think otherwise.
